Disapointed
I wish I had seen this PC website before making a purchase with PropertyRoom.
I won an auction for a cornet, brass instrument. The photos of the instrument were deceptive, in my opinion, because they failed to show more than 20 dents in the horn.
Four of the dent are serious, with 1/3 to 1/2 of the brass tubing crushed. There are three one-inch holes in the bottom of the instrument case where the luggage feet would have been. In the fourth corner of the case, there is a three-inch dent and cracking. The horn and the case have a putrid smell.
The stink is so bad, I had to put the instrument and the case outside the house.
An estimate of the repairs from a local, reputable music shop: $50 per dent or $1,000, $120 for an instrument cleaning. The case is not worth repairing or cleaning. The cost of the repairs are close to what a brand-new horn would cost. Since I believe the auction photos are created to disguise and conceal serious faults.
Because I believe the PropertyRoom photos in my auction are deceptive, and I consider the website as untrustworthy. PropertyRoom
faults, I consider PropertyRoom to be untrustworthy.

Racket.
This website is nothing but a racket, at least for the NYC auction cars they sell here. The same four or five people bid on the cars over and over again with out of state credit cards and they basically have a monopoly on what is sold here.
Propertyroom/NYC DCAS/NYPD does NOTHING about it because this group of people basically clean up NYC’s mess of retired fleet cars. They get preferential treatment when they visit the lot where the cars are, as the staff allow them to pile the cars they bought outside the lot area so they can make runs back and forth after business hours to pick them up, which is against lot policy. On top of this, I have observed many of the vehicles being sold on this website as being relisted several times after they have been won. It’s a regular occurrence on this website.
I believe it has something to do with an email sent out by Melanie Webster, a propertyroom employee. The email states something along the lines of PropertyRoom trying to reach out to your bank to get your payment info but the bank will not release the info unless the buyer is present. Then the email states something about making a three way call with the bank and propertyroom to verify everything. When this is all going on, you are locked out of your account.
I have never had issues with my methods of payments anywhere else except here. Furthermore, this has happened to several other people that I know who are occasional purchasers from this website. It doesn’t happen 100% of the time when something is purchased with that payment method either. Its random.
Strange, right? Everyone receives the same copy-and-paste email from “Fraud Specialist” Melanie Webster. I think people get disgusted or lose interest when this happens to them as getting a hold of her or anyone at PropertyRoom is extremely difficult and the length of time needed to resolve this is long. I think PropertyRoom is doing this on purpose as they only want the aforementioned select few people buying cars from here.
To top it all off, NYDCAS/NYPD Fleet Services literally TEARS THESE CARS APART when they auction them. It is one hundred percent done on purpose. They pull fuses that are necessary for the car to run, damage big-ticket body parts, cut wires, and literally rip stuff off like complete animals. They really obliterate many of these cars and I’m certain its intentional.
I visit the area where NYC keeps these cars before they are put to pasture. The cars are in mint condition and then when the very same cars end up on propertyroom they are DESTROYED. It’s a real shame because there are many people who are looking for good, dependable, and cheap used cars. Then our lovely local politicians love to cry about how the poor have it bad and how the rich are running and ruining America, meanwhile things like this are happening right under their nose that make it harder for low income people to get a good car at below market value.
It is IMPOSSIBLE that every single car listed here had an accident that involved the quarter panels. If you look at the cars they all have the same damage there, as if they bang them against a truck or guardrail or something. These guys who decomission these cars aren’t stupid. They know the quarter panels are are the most expensive body panel to repair.
They don’t want these cars going back on the road. The reasoning can be up for debate but I don’t think they want anyone driving around in cars that remotely resemble police or official cars, even though these models are widely available for purchase elsewhere. To top it all off, the old lot that had stored the cars to be listed on propertyroom was caught keeping the nicest ones for themselves, which I believe led to the termination of their contract with the city. The same thing is happening at this one.
There are cars in there that never get listed that just disappear.
I’ve been observing all of this now for a couple of years. Stay far and away.

Something happened to me. The worst part was that it was marked as stolen and I was looked at as iff I stole it when trying to connect it.
